Let's have a look at the differences between the Sony SRS-XB22 and the Sony SRS-XB33.
Size and weight
The two devices differ in their dimensions. The smaller a loudspeaker is, the more practical it is in use, of course.

- Sony SRS-XB33: 97 cm x 24.6 cm x 10.6 cm
Battery
The battery life is shorter with the Sony SRS-XB22 with up to 12,0 hours than with the Sony SRS-XB33. There the battery life is up to 24,0 hours. In practice, the specification of the battery life can often be somewhat lower, since the manufacturers specify the maximum possible performance.
Waterproof
Both speakers are waterproof. Both the Sony SRS-XB33 and the Sony SRS-XB22 are certified with IP67.
Bluetooth
The built-in Bluetooth differs in the versions. The Sony SRS-XB22 has Bluetooth version 4.2 installed. At the Sony SRS-XB33 the newer version 5.0 is integrated. A newer Bluetooth version offers a better stability in the connection. Thus also a higher comfort in the application is given. The range is the Sony SRS-XB22 up to 10,0 m.
Both devices also have NFC installed. This allows a simple connection to the playback device.
Powerbank
The Sony SRS-XB33 can be used as powerbank. With the Powerbank function, other devices can be charged via USB using the speaker. Of course, this is at the expense of the battery life of the speaker.
Leistung
The performance is the Sony SRS-XB22 at 2 x 4 Watt. The Sony SRS-XB33 has a power of 2 x 8 Watt. At the Sony SRS-XB22 we find a driver with 42 mm.
Lichteffekte
Both speakers have light effects. This has no effect on the sound. The light show is only for visual purposes. The Sony SRS-XB33 there are colored light effects.
Connecting multiple speakers
Both speakers offer the possibility to connect two devices and use them as a stereo system.
Some speakers can be connected to several others and played together. This is usually called party mode. The difference to stereo connection is that all devices play the same thing. With stereo connection there is only one channel at a time. When comparing the Sony SRS-XB22 and the Sony SRS-XB33 both devices can do this. Usually this type of connection is only possible within one manufacturer. Even then, it is not necessarily possible to connect every loudspeaker to every other one. To connect the devices "Party Connect" is used for both devices.
