Let's take the two heart rate sensors HRM-Dual* and HRM-Pro* of the brand Garmin and look at the differences.
Heart rate measurement
Both sensors have the ECG measurement. This is very accurate and is recommended rather than the optical measurement.
We have a chest strap on both devices. So it is measured over the chest. This is classic for ECG sensors.
Connection options
Bluetooth has become a very popular option for connecting heart rate sensors and pulse belts. Both the Garmin HRM-Dual and the Garmin HRM-Pro offer this. The connection via Bluetooth is mostly used for cell phones or fitness watches. Some new devices in fitness studios also offer Bluetooth as an option.
The standard ANT+ less known. However, it is often used in the field of sports. Some finte watches, especially from Garmin and Polar, support the form of the connection. In contrast to the Garmin HRM-Dual, the Garmin HRM-Pro offers ANT+ as a connection possibility.
Waterproof
Both heart rate sensors from the comparison are waterproof. The Garmin HRM-Dual can be used up to 10 m under water. The Garmin HRM-Pro can be submerged up to 10 m under water.
Belt
Most heart rate sensors can be adjusted in size. This is especially relevant for chest straps. The minimum belt length of the Garmin HRM-Dual is 63,5 cm. For the Garmin HRM-Pro the minimum belt length is 60,0 cm. The maximum length for the Garmin HRM-Dual is 132,0 cm. The Garmin HRM-Pro has a maximum belt length of 142,0 cm.
