Where are the differences?

Let's take a closer look at the two Actik 350* and Swift RL* brand headlamps and see the differences.

Luminosity and luminous range

You can find the specification of lumens on as good again good flashlight. The Petzl Actik 350 is 350 Lumen less than the Petzl Swift RL. This can be up to 900 Lumen. The more lumens a flashlight offers, the brighter it can shine.

Thus, more lumens means a higher maximum luminosity. Thus, the Petzl Swift RL* performs better in terms of maximum luminosity. Outdoors, more brightness is often handy. When running in the city, this can sometimes be disadvantageous, since the brightness can also dazzle.

The Petzl Swift RL* offers more in maximum luminous range. It can shine up to 80 m. The Petzl Swift RL manages a maximum of 150 m in distance.

The values here come from information and tests of the manufacturers. With unknown dealers, also called China dealers, the data can often not be correct.

The focus of the light cone cannot be freely adjusted in either model. Partially, however, the focus changes with the different fixed light levels.

The light intensity is not freely dimmable for the Petzl Actik 350, nor for the Petzl Swift RL. However, with different light levels, the light intensity may also vary.

Red light and further light colors

Unlike the Petzl Swift RL, the Petzl Actik 350* offers red light. The red light is used for night vision among other things to see better. Also to not be seen by wildlife or when fishing and not to scare off is the red light advantageous.

Besides red and white, some models offer other colors. These are usually for better night vision as well. The Petzl Actik 350 and Petzl Swift RL both have no other colors.

Batterie und Akkulaufzeit

The power supply differs between the two lamps.

With a maximum burn time of Petzl Actik 350, the headlamp is ahead of the Petzl Swift RL. The latter can shine for a maximum of 100,0 hours. The maximum operating time is always specified at the lowest power.

For many headlamps there are also special rechargeable batteries from the manufacturer to use the lamps longer. However, normal rechargeable batteries can also be used.

Which headlamp is lighter?

Especially when hiking or climbing, ballast is undesirable. But also when running a lighter lamp is of course more comfortable. With a weight of 86 g, the Petzl Actik 350* wins the race in the lightness point. The Petzl Swift RL weighs 100 g.

Which lamp is weatherproof?

The headlamps from the comparison both have IP certification. There is no difference at this point. Both are certified with IPX4. The first digit stands for protection against dust and dirt. If there is an X in this position, this is not rated. The maximum possible value is 6. The second digit stands for protection against water and moisture. Here the maximum is 9.
