Where are the differences?

Let's take a look at the differences between the Oclean X* and the Philips Sonicare ProtectiveClean 5100* in comparison.

Cleaning

Some electric toothbrushes have several different cleaning modes. Although both electric toothbrushes offer you this advantage, the number differs. So with 3 cleaning modes, Philips Sonicare ProtectiveClean 5100 gives you less choices than the Oclean X* with 4 modes. In contrast to the Oclean X, The Oclean X even recognizes which mode should be selected when switching from the attachment.

Some devices additionally offer a choice of intensity levels. There is a difference between the two devices here. Only the Oclean X offers the choice between 32 intensity levels. With the Philips Sonicare ProtectiveClean 5100 you get only one intensity level.

There is no difference in the technology used. Both toothbrushes use a Sound Technology.

It is recommended to change the attachment of the electric toothbrush every 3 months. The Philips Sonicare ProtectiveClean 5100 has a reminder function for this. the Philips Sonicare ProtectiveClean 5100 does not have such a function.

Pressure control

Too much pressure with the toothbrush can harm the teeth and especially the gums. Also, too much pressure affects the cleaning result. To remedy this, many electric toothbrushes offer an imprint control. Both the Oclean X and the Philips Sonicare ProtectiveClean 5100 offer a sensor for pressure control.

Neither toothbrush provides a visual notification by light when pressure is applied.

Timer and cleaning time

Both electric toothbrushes have an integrated timer for the correct brushing time. For the Philips Sonicare ProtectiveClean 5100, the optimal cleaning time is at 120 seonds. There is also a split timer at 30 seonds for both toothbrushes. The timer works for the two devices with vibration. On the display the Oclean X the cleaning time is also visible.

Display

Unlike the Philips Sonicare ProtectiveClean 5100, the Oclean X is equipped with a display to show you more information. Only the Oclean X is a color display.

App & Smartphone Connection

There is a difference in the app, because there is only an app available for the Oclean X. An app can give you some beneficial features for your brushing time and brushing technique.

The app the Oclean X offers you as functions Coaching and 3D Clean Track.

Battery

The battery life is higher with up to 21 days for the Oclean X than for the Philips Sonicare ProtectiveClean 5100 with only up to 14 days. A longer battery life is particularly interesting for travel, where power is not always available. However, this is still a problem with very few toothbrushes. Some devices even offer a travel case with a built-in charging function.
