Let's have a look at the differences between the JBL Boombox 2 and the JBL JR Pop. With the year of publication 2020 the Boombox 2 is newer than the JR Pop from the year 2018.
Size and weight
The two devices differ in their dimensions. The smaller a loudspeaker is, the more practical it is in use, of course.

With regard to battery life, the JBL Boombox 2 can trump with up to 24,0 hours. The JBL Boombox 2 has a battery life of up to 5,0 hours. In practice, the specification of the battery life can often be somewhat lower, since the manufacturers specify the maximum possible performance. In the loading time the JBL JR Pop performs better with 2,0 hours. With the JBL Boombox 2 the loading time is 6,5 hours. With 10000 mah the JBL Boombox 2 has a larger battery capacity. With the JBL JR Pop the capacity is 600 mah.
Both speakers are waterproof. Both the JBL JR Pop and the JBL Boombox 2 are certified with IPX7.
With Bluetooth version 5.1 the JBL Boombox 2 has a newer version than the JBL JR Pop. There we have Bluetooth of the version 4.2. A newer Bluetooth version offers a better stability in the connection. Thus also a higher comfort in the application is given.
The function of a powerbank provides the JBL Boombox 2. With the Powerbank function, other devices can be charged via USB using the speaker. Of course, this is at the expense of the battery life of the speaker.
The performance is the JBL Boombox 2 at 2 x 40 Watt. The JBL JR Pop has a power of 3 Watt. The driver of the JBL JR Pop has 5 mm.
Light effects are only offered by the JBL Boombox 2. But this is only an optical difference. The light effects have no effect on the sound.
