Garmin HRM-Run vs HRM-Swim - Where are the differences?
Where are the differences?
Let's take the two heart rate sensors HRM-Run* and HRM-Swim* of the brand Garmin and look at the differences.
Heart rate measurement
Both sensors have the ECG measurement. This is very accurate and is recommended rather than the optical measurement.
We have a chest strap on both devices. So it is measured over the chest. This is classic for ECG sensors.
Connection options
Bluetooth has become a very popular option for connecting heart rate sensors and pulse belts. Neither the Garmin HRM-Run nor the Garmin HRM-Swim offer this. The connection via Bluetooth is mostly used for cell phones or fitness watches. Some new devices in fitness studios also offer Bluetooth as an option.
The standard ANT+ less known. However, it is often used in the field of sports. Some finte watches, especially from Garmin and Polar, support the form of the connection. In comparison between the Garmin HRM-Run and the Garmin HRM-Swim you get ANT+ with both.
Waterproof
Both heart rate sensors from the comparison are waterproof. Up to 50 m both devices can be used under water
Belt

For the Garmin HRM-Swim the minimum belt length is 58,0 cm. The maximum length for the Garmin HRM-Run is 142,0 cm. The Garmin HRM-Swim has a maximum belt length of 145,0 cm.
