Bosch GLM 500 vs PLR 40 C - Where are the differences?
Where are the differences?
Let's take the two laser distance meters GLM 500 and PLR 40 C the Make Bosch in the comparison and look at the differences.
measuring range / distance
The measuring range of a laser rangefinder is extremely important. The number describes the maximum distance the device can measure. For most devices the maximum distance can be derived from the name.
With a maximum distance of 50,00 m the Bosch GLM 500 offers more measuring range than the Bosch PLR 40 C with 40,00 m. Theoretically, the larger measuring range is of course better. However, if you do not need so much distance, the smaller Bosch PLR 40 C is also sufficient.
The minimum distance is the Bosch GLM 500 at 50,00 m. The Bosch PLR 40 C can determine a minimum distance of 40,00 m for the measuring range.
The indicated measuring range usually refers to ideal conditions. Poor weather conditions can affect the measuring range. This includes fog, for example. This is interesting for use on construction sites. In home use, this usually plays hardly any role. Under bad conditions the possible measuring range is smaller.
Measuring accuracy
The better a laser rangefinder is, the more accurate the results. The differences here are in the range of a few millimeters.
With +/- 1,10 mm the Bosch PLR 40 C has a lower measuring accuracy than the Bosch GLM 500 with +/- 1,50 mm. In comparison the GLM 500 performs better. Due to bad weather conditions the measuring accuracy can be worse. This is also the case with the measuring range.
Good rangefinders can output smaller steps in the measurement. Of course this also affects the accuracy of the measurement. The measurement results are output at the Bosch GLM 500 in steps of 0,50 mm. Thus the device offers smaller steps than the PLR 40 C of Bosch in comparison. There the smallest step is at 1,00 mm.
Measurement functions
Most devices offer even more than simple distance measurement. This includes area function, room function and summation.
The area function is offered by both devices from the comparison. Here you can calculate the area from your measurements directly with the laser measuring device.
Both measuring devices from this comparison offer you a room function which allows you to determine volume (m³). Classically this function is used to determine a room size.
With the Bosch GLM 500 you have the possibility 20 to store measured values in memory locations. The Bosch PLR 40 C has no memory locations for measured values.
Inclination measurement
You have a tilt measurement at the Bosch GLM 500. The Bosch PLR 40 C does not offer this function. The tilt measurement allows you to determine angle sizes.
Accumulator and batteries
To save energy, both devices switch off automatically. The automatic switch-off time is 5 minutes for both measuring devices.
